Enrique Tellez
President
Enrique Tellez is currently in his eighth year as the Director of Bands and Orchestras at Butler Middle School, where he has made a significant impact on the school's music program. An accomplished performer and freelance musician, Mr. Tellez has performed with the Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre Company, Music Theatre West, Salt Lake Choral Artists and Symphony, American Festival Orchestra & Chorus, Salt Lake Symphonic Winds, Utah Wind Symphony, Salt Lake Symphony, Northwestern Symphony Orchestra, Logan Civic Ballet, Olympus Brass Quintet, and the Canyons Brass Quintet.

Under Mr. Tellez's leadership, both his private studio and the school have actively participated in multiple Utah State Band and Orchestra Festivals. His efforts have revitalized Butler's music program, resulting in one-third of the school's population now engaged in instrumental music. In recognition of his dedication and excellence in teaching, Mr. Tellez was honored as Butler Middle School’s Teacher of the Year in 2020.

Mr. Tellez holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Utah State University. He attributes much of his success to the guidance of his mentors, including Dr. Todd Fallis, Dr. Thomas Rohrer, Mr. Christian Earl, and the many colleagues who have helped shape his musical philosophies.

Outside of his professional commitments, Mr. Tellez enjoys restoring classic cars, playing tennis, hosting dinner parties, and spending quality time with his Shih-tzu, Cedric.

Aaron Young
President-Elect
A lifelong Utah native, Aaron joined SLSW in the Fall of 2014.  He has served as both the section leader for the percussion section, as well as the percussion section liaison, and IT advisor to the SLSW board of directors, before being elected as President-Elect to serve as President for the 2026-2027 season.

Together with his section mates, Aaron has contributed to the purchase of new percussion instruments for both SLSW and our host schools. Working closely with the percussion section leader and SLSW head of logistics, Sam Jewkes, he oversees the maintenance, storage, and transport of SLSW and school percussion equipment, ensuring that the instruments entrusted to the group are in excellent hands.

Raised in Davis County, Aaron attended Fairfield Jr. High, playing in the band for Chris Earl. This developed into a lifelong friendship and helped foster a love of music composition, particularly film scores and the works of John Williams. Aaron spent several years as both a volunteer and later as a paid staff member for the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps, travelling across the country.  An experience he wishes every summer he could do all over again.

Aaron holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, along with Master’s degree in Finance, as well as Information Systems from the University of Utah.  He works as an IT Engineer specializing in government cloud operations for Baker Tilly, a worldwide tax, accounting, and assurance firm.

When not at rehearsal, Aaron’s widely varied hobbies include continuing education, cross-stitching, music composition/arranging, video games, travel, IT consulting, and philanthropy.  He and his wife, Tina, live in Eagle Mountain with their rescue dog, Muffin.

Patrick Webster
Past President
Patrick Webster is a founding member of the Salt Lake Symphonic Winds.  His musical training began as a “band director’s brat,” attending many music clinics with his father.  As a student, he had the opportunity to observe and perform in clinic band sessions conducted by Dr. Frank Bencriscutto during Portland State University’s summer sessions. He was chosen for the Idaho All-State Band as well as serving as principal clarinet with the All-Northwest Band.  These experiences cemented his love for music.

His early clarinet studies included work with Dr. James Scheflin at the Idaho State University. At the University of Utah Mr. Webster studied with the principal clarinetist of the Utah Symphony – Martin Zwick.  He also received guidance from Dr. Loel Hepworth who was the conductor of the University Wind Ensemble and a member of the Utah Symphony’s clarinet section.
While working for the Master of Music degree, Mr. Webster was privileged to serve as conductor of the University’s Wind Ensemble when Dr. Hepworth went on  sabbatical. He received the Bachelor of Arts and then the Master of Music degrees - both from the University of Utah.

Mr. Webster taught music in the Granite School District.  During that time, he was host and an assistant conductor of the Granite Youth Symphony.  He later taught in both the Butler Junior High and Brighton High schools concurrently and was conductor of the Jordan Youth Symphony.  Mr. Webster served in the Utah Music Educator’s Association as the membership chair and was elected as the state’s Vice-president of bands.  He has been involved as a clinician, guest conductor and adjudicator throughout Utah for many years.

As a founding member of the Salt Lake Symphonic Winds, Mr. Webster was heavily involved in the operations of the ensemble.  Over the 30+ years, he served two terms as President and two terms as the Associate Conductor of the ensemble.

Mr. Webster is married to another founding member, Development Director, and flute section leader Kathie Webster. Together they are enjoying retirement by traveling, hiking, camping all throughout Utah and spending time with family and friends.
